What is Data Science ?

Data Science is an emerging field in which data is analyzed deeply and useful information or insights are extracted from the data. And later on, predictions can be concluded from that data with the help of some machine learning algorithms. Data Science borrows concepts from other fields like statistics, mathematics and machine learning to perform analysis on data.  It involves steps like data cleaning (removing null or irrelevant data), using stats and mathematics functions to get information from the data, plotting graphs to show insights of data and then finally applying some algorithm to predict from that data.

Why Data Science is Trending ?

Nowadays, Data Science is being a trending term in the technology world. It is due to the fact that in the modern era, there is a lot of quest for data. With the growing use of internet and cloud, data is generated in huge amounts by people. According to an estimate there will be around 40 trillion gigabytes of data (40 Zettabytes) by 2020. By analyzing this data, many uselful insights can be drawn which can help to understand the needs of users. 
For example, a sim network company can analyze the 5 years data records of their customers. They can extract useful insights from the data that how much young people make use of SMS, calls and internet and how middle age people make use of these. By this information they can design such packages which will suit people of all ages. Or they can design multiple packages to address every customer's needs.
Another example is that organizations can analyze the dataset of products sold in the region in which they want to launch their new product. They can have insights from that data that which type of products are liked more by the people of that region and  what should be the suitable price for their new product.

Hence, analyzing data is important in this era. Data science is the future profession as data scientists are very much in demand. Companies hire data scientists or data analysts to improve their companies strengths and sales. Moreover, modern world is moving towards predictions. Data science can help in weather forecasts, diagnosing diseases, predicting stock exchange rates, detecting frauds in banking and the list goes on. Hence, Data Science graduates have a bright future.
